  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word or RTF format.

Author Guidelines

NBP. Nauka, bezbednost, policija publishes only the original academic papers and high quality review articles written in English. Manuscripts (Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion) should not exceed 30.000 characters with spaces, not including the Title page, References, and Acknowledgements. The journal uses an online registration system SCIndeks Assistant online (https://aseestant.ceon.rs/index.php/nabepo/login) for article submission. If you already have an account in the system, go directly to Login. As a new user, please register first. Upon completing the registration process, the user is taken directly to User Home. Selecting the role of “Author” will take users to the manuscript submissions page. Together with the article, authors are required to submit a completed and signed Author’s Statement as a separate file.

  • Not more than 40 except for the Review studies. If more references are needed, please explain it in the cover letter. Try to use the most recent references (i.e., majority of references [80%] is not more than 5-10 years old) and most of them should be from scientific journals. Self-citation is discouraged. Therefore, self-referencing is limited to maximum 10%. The reference list should be given without numbering and listed in alphabetical order by author’s last name, with justified alignment, 11 pt. The reference list should include journal articles, books, documents, legal sources, magazines, web and other sources. For electronic sources, break long URL’s after a slash or before a period. Use of the DOI is highly recommended for articles.

  • The Figures should include only the words needed to clearly understand the Figure’s content (i.e., units of measurement with their dimensions, a brief explanation of curves, etc.). The abbreviations used for the figure should be explained in the Figure caption.
  • Equations should be written using Equation (from Insert menu) in Word. At the right end of the line in which the equation is written, the number of the equation should be indicated in round brackets, starting from 1. The text following an equation need not be a new paragraph. Please punctuate equations as regular text. It is important that the equation is clear and understandable, while style is of author’s preference.
  • Always use internationally accepted signs and symbols for units (SI units).
  • Use only the APA style (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th Edition) for citations. The basics of an in-text citation in APA 7 include author or authors and the year of publication. Use round brackets. If directly quoting a section from a book or article, you will need to include the author’s last name, the year of publication, and the page number(s), and also to use an ampersand (&) between names for a work with two authorsONE AUTHOR: (Petrović, 2016: 38); TWO AUTHORS: (Petrović & Jovanović, 2017: 39); THREE AND MORE AUTHORS: (Perić et al., 2018: 40). If paraphrasing or summarizing a text, the page number is not required. If an in-text citation has the authors' names as part of the sentence (that is, outside of brackets) place the year in brackets immediately after the name and use “and” between the two authors' names − ONE AUTHOR: Petrović stated that… (2016); TWO AUTHORS: Petrović and Jovanović found that… (2017); THREE AND MORE AUTHORS: Perić et al.'s findings indicated that… (2018).
