Rizik od infekcije gripom kod starijih osoba i uloga vakcinacije u prevenciji i smanjenju komplikacija

Sažetak


Uvod

 

Grip predstavlja ozbiljnu pretnju za starije osobe zbog oslabljenog imunološkog sistema i komorbiditeta. Ljudi stariji od 65 godina suočavaju se s povećanim rizikom od komplikacija, uključujući hospitalizacije, kardiovaskularne probleme, pneumoniju i smrt. Prema podacima Svetske zdravstvene organizacije (WHO), grip uzrokuje između 250.000 i 500.000 smrtnih slučajeva godišnje, od čega je u Evropi procenjeno 38.500.

 

Cilj rada

 

Istražiti rizike koje grip nosi starijoj populaciji, s fokusom na komorbiditete i uticaj vakcinacije u smanjenju tih rizika, kao i prednosti novih vakcina za ovu rizičnu grupu.

 

Diskusija

 

Rizik od komplikacija raste s godinama i pratećim bolestima. Kardiovaskularne komplikacije, uključujući srčane udare i pogoršanje srčane insuficijencije, često su posledica infekcije gripom. Pneumonija je vodeći uzrok smrtnosti, a javlja se kod 10% zaraženih. Iako imunološki odgovor kod starijih na vakcine može biti slabiji, istraživanja pokazuju da vakcinacija značajno smanjuje rizik od teških ishoda. Nova generacija vakcina, kao što su visoko-dozne i adjuvansne vakcine, poboljšava imunološki odgovor i zaštitu.

 

Zaključak

 

Vakcinacija protiv gripa pruža značajnu zaštitu starijim osobama, smanjujući ozbiljnost bolesti i stopu smrtnosti. Napredak u razvoju novih vakcina poboljšava ishode u ovoj rizičnoj grupi, čineći vakcinaciju ključnom strategijom u prevenciji komplikacija gripa.
