Author Guidelines

Manuscript submission

Manuscripts are accepted for publication on the understanding that they have been submitted solely to Belgrade Philosophical Annual and that they have not been previously published elsewhere either in whole or in part. Authors may not submit papers that are under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Contributions sent to the journal must be submitted in English, with abstract, keywords, and full title. British English or American English may be used, but either one should be followed consistently throughout the article.

Articles submitted for potential publication are accepted throughout the year.

If the article does not satisfy basic scientific standards, the editorial board reserves the right to reject it without further review.

For your manuscript text, please always submit in common words processing formats such as .docx (.doc for older versions) or LaTeX. Please do not submit PDF files, for these cannot be edited during the review process.

A typical paper for Belgrade Philosophical Annual should be no more than 10,000 words, including the abstract, tables, references, and figure captions.

There are no submission fees, publication fees, or page charges for this journal.

Text Formatting

• Use a normal, plain font (e.g., 12-point Times Roman) for text.

• Use italics for emphasis.

• Use the automatic page numbering function to number the pages.

• Use tab stops or other commands for indents, not the space bar.

Editorial procedure

This journal follows a double-blind reviewing procedure, which means that the identities of both authors and reviewers are blind to each other. It is the responsibility of the author to anonymize the manuscript and any associated materials.

• Author names, affiliations, and any other potentially identifying information should be removed from the manuscript text and any accompanying files (such as figures of supplementary material);

• A separate Title Page should be submitted, containing the title, author names, affiliations, and the corresponding author's contact information. Any acknowledgments, disclosures, or funding information should also be included on this page;

• Authors should avoid citing their own work in a way that could reveal their identity.

The complete title page should include The name of the author, a concise title, institutional affiliation, and the e-mail address of the corresponding author.

For articles, a complete submission includes an abstract and 4-6 keywords. The abstract should be no more than 150-250 words.

Belgrade Philosophical Annual adopted the APA citation and referencing style.

In-text references should include the author's surname, the publication year, and the page number. Some examples:

  • The classical theory of radiation (Maxwell) allowed for all possible values of electron orbits; i.e., it allowed the possibility of the continuous dissipation of the energy of the rotating electron, the continuous increase of the frequency of the electron’s revolution and the continuous decrease of the length of orbit (Perović, 2006: 278).
  • This approach is characterized by the perspective of epistemic networks, a general picture of the dynamic and real-time process of acquiring beliefs and knowledge (Leydesdorff, 1991; Rosenstock, Bruner & O’Connor, 2017; Sullivan et al., 2020).
  • But it would be unjustified to conclude from this that the debate about the central externalist argument against UMI is resolved in favor of externalism (Milevski, 2016: 49).

The list of References should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Do not use footnotes or endnotes as a substitute for a reference list.

Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last names of the first author of each work. Some sample APA-style citations are shown below.
