ACCURACY OF BODY MASS INDEX BASED ON SELF-REPORT DATA AMONG LAW ENFORCEMENT CADETS

Sažetak


Telesna visina i težina često su u studijama prikupljeni pomoću upitnika. Međutim, nivo preciznosti ovih podataka u odnosnu na direktno izmerene nije poznat među policijskim kadetima. Cilj ove studije bio je da ispita preciznost individualno prijavljenih podataka o sopstvenoj visini i težini u odnosu na direktno izmerene vrednosti visine i težine na uzorku kadeta Sjedinjenih američkih država (USA) i  da utvrdi da li sopstvene procene utiču na klasifikaciju kadeta po indeksu telesne mase (body mass index [BMI]). METODE: Samostalno precenjene i merene telesna visina i težina od 26 kadeta (muškarci – godine = 31.32 ± 10.04; izmerena visina = 178.07 ± 9.87 cm, izmerena težina 92.44 ± 19.37 kg; žene – godine = 25.67 ± 1.53, izmerena  visina = 168.17 ± 4.01cm, izmerena težina = 78.94 ± 11.30kg) su prikupljeni i analizirani pomoću t-testa za uparene uzorke. REZULTATI: Nađene su značajne razlike između samostalno procenjene i izmerene visine (p=0.000) i težine (p=0.017) tela, što nije rezultiralo značajnim razlikama u BMI (p=0.281). ZAKLJUČAK: Iako samostalno procenjeni visina i težina nisu precizni u odnosu na izmerene vrednosti, to nije uticalo na preciznost klasifikacije kadeta u kategorije uhranjenosti u odnosu na njihov BMI.
