The Hipokratovo etičko nasljeđe

Sažetak


Tekst analizira etički sadržaj Hipokratove zakletve, ocjenjuje njen značaj za savremenu medicinu i daje odgovor na pitanja koliko je ona relevantna današnjim ljekarima. Etički sadržaj Hipokratove etike podjeljen je na tri dijela: zavjet, kodeks i etikeciju. Obrazložena je  polemika u tumačenju kontroverznih dijelova o abortusu, eutanaziji i upotrebi hirurgije. Hipokrat će i u drugim svojim tekstovima potencirati na visokoj moralnosti pa od ljekara zahtjeva da se odlikuju vrlinama, budu primjeri humanosti i čuvaju čast svoje profesije. Hipokratova zakletva je i pored svojih nedostataka isticanjem odgovornosti ljekara za dobrobit pacijenta i dalje uzorna za medicinsku praksu. Potrebno je da ljekari pored tehničkog znanja budu i etički obrazovani kako bi mogli donositi savjesne moralne odluke. Zakletva je stara, neautentična, modifikovana, različito interpretirana i nepotpuna ali je i dalje relevantna za savremenu bio-medicinsku etiku.
