Engleski Farmakologija, od Buchheima do Holstea: osnivanje Instituta za farmakologiju na Medicinskom fakultetu Univerziteta u Beogradu

Sažetak


Medicinski fakultet Univerziteta u Beogradu slavi stogodišnjicu postojanja. Važnu ulogu u životu i razvoju Škole imao je Institut za farmakologiju i toksikologiju, osnovan 1924. godine. Ne radi se samo o naučnim dostignućima, već prije svega o izuzetnim ličnostima naših prethodnika. Da su svoju akademsku karijeru proveli negdje drugdje, sigurno bi bili među najcjenjenijim istraživačima u svijetu. Hrabrost ostati na turbulentnom Balkanu i održati uspješnu komunikaciju s kolegama iz inozemstva zaslužuje poštovanje i divljenje. Jedan Nemac i jedan Srbin, profesori Arnold Holste i Radivoje Pavlović, potonji teško oštećenog vida, uradili su nešto izuzetno. Osnovali su posebnu farmakološku školu, opremili istraživačke laboratorije i pružili svojim studentima izdašnu podršku uprkos nepovoljnim okolnostima (prije svega dva svetska rata i trajna ekonomska kriza). Njihovi mlađi saradnici, budući profesori Dimitrijević i Bogdanović, krenuli su stopama svojih prethodnika. Njihov primjer i žrtva obavezuju nas da idemo u korak s izuzetno brzim razvojem farmakologije u svijetu.
