Sažetak

Margaret Atvud u trilogiji BesniAdam predočava civilizaciju devastiranu i razorenu pod naletom smrtonosnog laboratorijski konstruisanog virusa. Marginalizovani i izopšteni pojedinci koji u konstruisanju učestvuju, ali i stanje krize i straha koje otelovljuje postapokaliptični narativ, upućuju na preispitivanje trilogije u svetlu društvene atmosfere nakon terorističkih napada u Americi 11. septembra 2001. godine. Novoistorijsko čitanje koje književnu formu tumači kao ravnopravnog učesnika u sveprožimajućem domenu društveno-istorijskih praksi pruža osnov za čitanje trilogije u okvirima specifičnog oblika društvene imaginacije koji izranja iz izjednačavanja terorističke pretnje sa neiskorenjivim zaraznim bolestima. Ipak, njeno saučesništvo sa poretkom koji nastoji da raskrinka, onemogućava subverzivno delovanje i kritičku distancu. Čak i kada implementira parodiju kako bi sistem raskrinkala, trilogija ipak mora da (re)konstituiše prostor krize i apokalipse, čime onemogućuje svoje odeljivanje i dodatno podupire kulturu straha i terora iz koje potiče.
