Sažetak
Evolucija je nedovoljno zastupljena u medicini, psihologiji i neuronaukama. Zbog toga su ove discipline uskraćene za dragocena saznanja o ljudskom mozgu. Naša vrsta ima dugu i složenu istoriju, koja je umnogome odredila današnji izgled i funkcije čovekovog mentalnog aparata. Štaviše, mnoge karakteristike našeg mozga dobijaju smisao tek kada se uporede sa karakteristikama drugih životinjskih vrsta, posebno onih sa kojima delimo zajedničkog poreklo. Ovaj rad ima dva osnovna cilja. Prvi je da ukratko predstavi osnovne principe evolucije koji objašnjavaju kako je nastala ranjivost ljudske vrste na psihijatrijske poremećaje. Drugi cilj je da se u svetlu poslednjih saznanja iz evolucione biologije i neuronauka razmotri validnost aktuelnih koncepata psihičkih funkcija i klasifikacije psihijatrijskih poremećaja.
