Lexicology of pigeon fanciers from Ugljare village near Priština

Abstract


This paper deals with pigeon fancier’s lexicology and terminology used in Ugljare village which is situated on the right bank of Pristevka River, in the area between Kosovo Polje and Pristina.

Terminology and lexics of pigeon fanciers were recorded after the Kosovo and Metohija occupation in 1999. Research materials were mainly collected from local pigeon fanciers. Certain amount of the answers was collected with the use of questionnaires specifically made for this research. We have also conducted lexical, semantical and pronunciation analyses of the recorded materials. A dictionary of registered names has also been made.

Materials were classified within nine semantical groups. Dictionary contains one hundred and thirty units.
